Definition of
Fork
A Fork is a collectively agreed upon software update on a blockchain network. Forks (in the sense of protocol or software changes) are done either to add new features or reverse the effects of hacking or catastrophic bugs on a blockchain. When it happens, it creates two separate versions of the blockchain with a shared history and also creates two cryptocurrencies.
